Play with a pro in Orlando
With a unique new development wed like to see elsewhere, a new business in Orlando offers the opportunity to play with a PGA Professional and receive an on-course lesson.
Professional Golf Guides of Orlando and owner Phil Jaffe, a PGA Professional, offer a great way for visiting golfers and locals to play one of many popular Central Florida courses, learn from a pro on the course, and much more.
The complete story
Though some golf courses and resorts offer playing lessons with pros, most lessons occur on the driving range. Thus, very few golfers have the opportunity to play with a low-handicap player or PGA Professional, much less learn from them while actually out on the golf course.
Phil Jaffes Orlando-area program includes: choosing the course to play ; picking up the client at the hotel; talking golf on the way to the course; playing the round, with subtle suggestions about round management; a wrap-up session on the driving range and putting green; and, often, post-round lunch or beverages. The service also includes the use of Mizuno clubs if the client hasnt traveled with clubs.
A playing lesson is a great way for the PGA Professional to analyze a players skills on the course. Many golfers are unaware of their tendencies as they play, including misalignment at address, chipping with the wrong club, playing too much break on putts, or limited focus on course management. By observing the players playing habits, Jaffe can devise a strategy for the lesson, as well as have a running dialogue during the round.
Jaffes clients have already included men, women, and youths, with a wide variety of skill levels and backgrounds (ranging in age from 9 to 85). Many out-of-state visitors are traveling alone and welcome the personal nature of the service. Current fees (not including individual greens fees) are: $165 for one golfer; $85 each for two golfers; and $60 each for three golfers.
