Bite Footwear -- Extraordinary Shoes

Quite simply, Bite Footwear makes some of the most unique shoes out there.

Founded in 1996 and currently based in Preston, Washington, Bite designed and introduced the first golf sandal, revolutionizing the golf shoe industry in the process. They’re one of the top five golf shoe companies in the world, with big boys like Footjoy and Nike producing their own golf sandals in answer to Bite’s success.

Bite now manufactures great golf, hiking and outdoor footwear. Combined with oversized outsoles, high sidewall mudguards, cushioned midsoles, and wider toe boxes, Bite designs cross-functional sandals, shoes, and boots focused on comfort, style, fit, and durability.

Their new street running sandal is a perfect example. The Xtension utilizes a specialized pulley strap system to secure the foot to the midsole and, by adjusting the forward tabs, the pulley system alters the heel tension and provides a secure (and even) fit.

From golfers to runners, hikers, kayakers, fishing folks, and more, those who try Bite’s products say they quickly overcome the initial weirdness of pursuing sports ‘traditionally’ done in ‘shoes.’ The advantages--like weight, quick-drying ability, and simple ‘airiness’--have made Bite gain a big-time following with the outdoors set. Why do you think some of the world’s best runners come from countries where everyone traditionally runs barefoot?

Bite continues to innovate, with some unique boot options (like the Metalist boot with a spike system for winter sports) and the new Orthosport System that allows their sandals to accommodate activity-specific insoles or to be customized by a podiatrist or specialty shoe store.
